Hawaii (38-8 overall, 15-1 in Big West) built a 7-1 lead after the fourth inning and held on for the win. Loie Kesterson (2-2) earned the win in relief. She gave up three runs on seven hits with no walks or strikeouts.
Iwata had a home run for her only hit, but she managed to drive in three runs. Kelly Majam went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, and Kayla Wartner, Keiki Carlos and Leisha Liilii each went 2-for-4. Carlos and Wartner each drove in one run.
For LBSU (30-20, 12-7), Shayna Kimbrough went 2-for-4. Amanda Hansen gave up seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss. She walked two and struck out two.
Baseball
c Hawaii 4, Cal State Fullerton 3: Austin Wobrock’s two-out, infield single in the bottom of the eighth inning drove in Conner George with the winning run, and Hawaii ended a three-game losing streak Friday night in Honolulu.
George led off the inning with a walk, and he reached third on Marc Flores’ single to right field. The Warriors, though, appeared as though they would strand the runners, as Andre Real and Kalei Hanawahine each struck out. But Wobrock came through with the hit, and Hawaii escaped.
The Warriors (9-27, 4-9) got solid pitching from starter Connor Little and reliever Lawrence Chew. Chew earned the win in relief, pitching the final 1 1/3 innings of hitless and scoreless baseball. Little allowed three runs on eight hits over 7 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two.
Wobrock went 2-for-3 with the big RBI, and Stephen Ventimilia went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
For the Titans (34-7, 10-3), Carlos Lopez went 2-for-4, and Michael Lorenzen went 2-for-2.
Koby Gauna suffered the loss in relief. He allowed one run on two hits over four innings. He left in the eighth with runners aboard, and Tyler Peltzmeier allowed Wobrock’s game-winning hit.
